Santee1821’s Great Cannon Hunt
I have been “hunting” historic artillery since the autumn of 2023. In that time I have visited twenty-two US States (and climbing!). In addition, many “Friends of the Page” have sent photos from their travels.
The link below is a Google Map that has nearly all of the cannons on this page placed as well as guns I have geolocated but have yet to visit marked. Keep in mind that my page is focused on the US Navy and therefore naval and seacoast guns are the primary “targets” of my efforts. Some field artillery pieces may be found, but they are very much a secondary effort.
Notes:
This is a living document! It will change. Much remains to be added to it.
Pins are placed either by GPS coordinates that are usually a few feet from the gun. Sometimes they are placed by the nearest address which may be across the street from the gun in question. Almost always the pin is within sight of the gun, but you may have to look around.
Please obey all traffic laws and rules and regulations in general while using this information!
