The 8-Inch Siege Howitzer, registry number 42, was cast at Fort Pitt Foundry in 1862. As manufactured it weighs 2,562 pounds. In service it would have been mounted on a Siege and Garrison carriage resembling but more heavily built than a field carriage. It is displayed in Lord Mason Park in Conneautville.

Two US Army 8-Inch Seacoast Howitzers, Pattern 1840, are the two largest cannons displayed among the 19th Century US cannons along the water battery at the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument. The two seacoast howitzers were made by Columbia Foundry in 1841.

Both were used in an attempted ambush of USS Marblehead on the Stono River on Christmas Day, 1863. One was subsequently carried as a pet aboard USS Pawnee.
