US Navy 9-Inch Dahlgren Number 933 of USS Nipsic

US Navy 9-Inch Dahlgren Number 933 is part of a memorial to Admiral David Farragut in Farragut, Tennessee. As manufactured in 1864 it weighed 9,170 pounds. US Navy Bureau of Ordnance Records show that it was carried aboard the second USS Nipsic from her commissioning in 1879 until at least 1890. This may mean that Number 933 is the only US Navy heavy gun to survive from the squadron that was wrecked at Samoa in March of 1889.
